Back on top! Carlos Slim Helu, A Mexican Telecommunication Tycoon, who mostly owns the largest Latin American's mobile telecommunication company, American Movil, is once again on top. The prestigious Forbes magazine, announces last March 10, 2010, Carlos Slim Helu with a net worth of US$53.5 billion as the world richest man, ahead of the formers number 1, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
Some claimed that this is the first time that Carlos Slim was ranked as the world's richest man, but way back in August 8, 2007, Fortune reported that Slim is the world richest man based on his public holdings at that time which was estimated as US$59 billion, wherein during that time Bill Gates had an estimated net worth of US$58 billion.
He was the second richest man, as Forbes reported last March 5, 2008, in which Warren Buffett was the first and Bill Gates is at third. And in March 9, 2009 issue of Forbes Magazine, Carlos Slim was third, while Gates and Buffett were first and second respectively.
Carlos Slim may stay longer on top, since hehas a net worth up $18.5 billion in a year, bigger than Gates and Buffett.

Once in a while Buffett and Slim surpassed him but he was able to reclaim his title after a few months.
Bill Gates fortune started out from his vision of user-friendly software, and now known as the most widely used software manufacturer, Microsoft. He became the world's richest man in 1995 and stayed there until 2009.
For some reason why Bill Gates is losing his title as the world richest man, he laid-off himself from full time job to part time at Microsoft and focuses on his Bill Melinda Gates Foundation. But he stays as a non-executive chairman of Microsoft, and Net worth still up $13 billion in a year.

The luckiest American investor, Warren Buffett is the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway. His major holdings include Coca Cola, American Express, and Gillete . He was able to survive the recession and even became the richest man in the world in 2008, overtaking Bill Gates, who's been number one for 13 consecutive years. But in 2009 Bill Gates regained the richest man person of the world title once again.
Warren Buffett became a billionaire on paper when Berkshire Hathaway began selling class A shares on May 29, 1990, when the market closed at $7,175 a share. He was able to acquire General Re in 1998, and in 2002, this company provided reinsurance for Maurice R Greenberg at AIG. On March 15 2005, Greenberg was forced to resign by the AIG board as Chairman and CEO. And soon after the series of settlement Berkshire Hathaway return the firm to avoid prosecution in an AIG fraud scheme and undergoing 'corporate governance concessions.
In 2006, Buffett announced in June that he gradually would give away 85% of his Berkshire holdings to five foundations in annual gifts of stock, starting in July 2006. The largest contribution would go to theBill and Melinda Foundation.
